Dear Future Me,

April 10, 2018

Dear Future Me,

As I am writing this I know I am feeling every emotion of a 17 year old girl trying to figure out the future ahead of myself. And at this point of my life I truly have no idea where I am going in life. In the end I hope you have chosen to do what makes you both successful and extremely happy. I hope you are sitting reading this with a cup of coffee in your hand and a smile on your face saying it was all worth it.

I hope you have managed to figure it all out, the ins and outs of life. I have wandered through this big world with big eyes and an even bigger heart. Every sparkle has caught my attention and every person I have met has a place in my heart. I have scars from falling so many times but the scars only show that each time I have gotten up. I am completely lost right now so I hope you have been found. Remember that you are strong and you can do hard things. I hope you are happy. Be happy with yourself. Be happy with the life you have made for yourself. Be happy. You are stronger than you think and just remember all the hard times you have gone through and how each time you saw light at the end of the tunnel.

I hope you slow down and watch the sun set. I hope you have stuck with ceramics because it feels good to not have to use your brain. I hope you have that porch swing. So you can sip on coffee and watch the city come alive. I hope you have found the place you pictured yourself you would be. And hopefully, it’s everything you’ve imagined. I hope you have created a life you love, one in which your heart is always full and you have wrinkles from smiling so much. I hope you have found your happiness. I hope each day you wake up in awe of your life, and every night, you sleep with gratitude and no regrets.

I hope you’ve found the skin you feel the most comfortable in.  I hope you have gone down the path that has lead you to where you want to be. I know that path may not have been neither the quickest or the easiest. But at the end of the end of the day it's where you are supposed to be.

-XOXO your past self

As I was writing this I realized all the things that I wish for myself. I looked at goals that really matter to me now and hopefully will have conquered in the future. I looked at everything I hope to be when I am older. I encourage everyone to write a letter to their future self. Who do you want to be? Where do you want to be? Who do you want to be with? What do you want to be doing? What do you hope your future looks like?
